We inaugurated our 15th manufacturing facility in Chennai on November 20th, 2015. Covering 8000 square metres, it is our largest facility in India. The Chennai plant delivers a majority share of the Power Tools in India both in terms of value and volume and is also recognised as a consistent high performer. The majority of the facility consists of women employees. The company ensures the well-being of these employees by providing maximum safety standards, healthy food and transportation, creating an inclusive and secure environment for all. The plant recently crossed its 10 millionth production mark, further underscoring the brand’s capabilities, market dominance and unparalleled engineering and manufacturing expertise. The Chennai facility currently manufactures over 60 kinds of power tools, including eight trims for artisans and tradesmen, portable electrical products such as air blowers, angle grinders, marble cutters, among others, with motors for all the tools. The products from the plant have been instrumental in driving the company’s growth in the Indian market.
Empowering the Dealer-user Ecosystem through Digitalization
Bosch Power Tools aims to make its products more agile and transparent for the dealers, suppliers and consumers by focusing on user research and requirements. We have currently enhanced our focus on digitalization to help the dealer-seller chain pivot to an online ecosystem. This will reduce response time for our business partners and users, enabling a seamless two-way communication platform. We have recorded a surge in the number of inbound queries from channel partners and users amidst the pandemic. The digital platforms enabled the dealers to have easy access to information on our power tools by raising a query on the digital platform.
We launched a web application called BeConnected, to provide a highly personalized and connected experience, allowing dealers and users a better digital lifestyle. The app offers various services such as e-warranty, product information, order placement, loyalty programs, etc., to ensure the exchange is smooth and seamless experience. Currently, 75% of Bosch tools are available via BeConnected QR Codes and Bosch aims to roll out 100% BeConnected-enabled tools by Q4 of 2022 in the Indian market.
